model portfolios . lots

i am so behind on my model session posts that i thought i’d do a collage of a few for now.
and anyway, i love to look at all of them this way too…
i have to say that i’m amazed at how mature, composed and confident many of the younger girls are today.
i was never any of those things at their ages. not even now, sometimes.
with so much available visually and more at their fingertips, i hope that somewhere,
someone is reminding them not to rush, that life will come,
one way or another. i hope they savor the path, remember to stop and look and breathe.
i remind my own three daughters of this, a lot.
as sophisticated and sultry as they looked at times, their girlish giggles and smiles grounded us and
kept our sessions light, fun and young…as they still are…very young.
i have to admit i love that each of these girls share so much with me on our session days.
they completely let their guards down and have fun,
try poses that they’ve only practiced in front of a mirror, alone, with the music blasting and
the door shut {sound familiar} and are even open to trying something new.
i love that they trust me enough to let go and feel safe. big steps for such young women.
i hope that in some small way these sessions give them even more strength and confidence in themselves
as they’re trying to figure it all out.
i hope that they see what i see in them…
pure sweet beauty.

Rama Desai - Beautiful photos! Beautiful words! Beautiful models! I am truly dazzled! 🙂
I constantly remind my son of the very same thing. Youth and innocence are precious gifts that should not be squandered recklessly but rather to be savoured, minute by minute, hour by hour…As it is, the sun sets even before the first rays of dawn have diffused.

Pascale - WOW! Sooooo beautiful!!! (the models and the photography) You are SO good at what you do Gina and clearly are able to make your models super comfortable in front of your camera and the ability to bring out the best in them. Your angles and perspectives always make me smile. LOVE your work. 🙂

athena - aloha gina! my goodness, I wish I could shoot with you — it would be so fun. I just love these images — they seem to capture the essence of each girl. I finally got around to editing a few of the senior images from the workshop, say hi if you get a chance 😉 take care, friend!

kiwi street studios {holiday mini sessions}

ok…let’s try this again!
new dates and times below.

thank you to everyone who has expressed so much interest in my mini sessions!
and…yes, you heard right.
h.o.l.i.d.a.y mini sessions!
if anyone is thinking of family photos as gifts or holiday cards, let’s get started.
if you’re mind is going there, try and dress your children accordingly,
otherwise anything you or your child loves works too!
hint: hats, mittens, boots, blankets, favorite items…bring them!

the good news is that i have the same amazing location for the sessions, turpin farms in newtown. this little slice of heaven is/was one of a kind.
the nursery has sadly been closed for over a year now, but the property is still such a magical place and i’m so excited to be able to hold these sessions there.

the dates are friday, november 13th and saturday, november 14th,
which both are right around the corner, i know, i know. but it’ll be great!
the times are 11-3 each day.
the time slots are:
11:00, 11:30, 12:00, 12:30, 1:00, 1:30, 2:00, 2:30, 3:00
please, please be on time as i would hate for a 20 min session to be cut short!

a couple of quick notes…

i am not accepting credit cards at this time, so please be sure to bring a check or cash the day of the session.
and, uncle sam needs to have his share, so with 6.5% sales tax added to the session, the total will be $53.25… per session.
be sure to wear farm friendly shoes
and…dress for cooler temps.

{directions}
when turning onto turpin lane, go past the sod/gravel yard at the corner and also pass the gates to the original entrance just past that on the right.
go to the second (back) entrance a little bit further down the road on the right. turn in and follow that until the next dirt road (very short distance)
pull up and park inside the fence on the left.

commercial child photographer . zogirl

oh how much i love surprises! i just got permission (hee hee) to post the other half of the top secret, coolest, trendiest, newest, stylish
goodies from julie martin’s zogirl designs!!! the first half was sherbert butterflies and sophia, and now it’s lime polka dots and gabriella…
along with the amazing headbands of butterflies from cagas wagner design. this time in the deepest blues. oh so beautiful.
you can always get yourself any of julie’s amazing, playful creations from her etsy store.
there’s always new designs being added. I’m not sure how she keeps up. little sewing fairies for sure.

honneycombs {la bande magnificant}

in this life i am constantly being reminded that one never really knows what’s around the corner. lately, i love ‘around the corner.’
when april talked to me about shooting for the band, i was a) totally excited. b) momentarily forgetful of the fact that i’ve never shot a band before.
c) got really really nervous and then, d) said…yes! of course it helps that i love the melodic sounds that float around the room when they perform,
and you might also recognize april from this post earlier this year.
this session was many things, some of the best was spending a gorgeous afternoon on laurie’s picturesque family country property {river included}
with the most beautiful, funny, gracious, talented and lovely three artists who make up the magical sounds of their most awesome band honneycombs.

while discussing the feel and look of the photographs, words like, fun, atmosphere, artistic, soulful, magical came up.
april told me she had read a bit about a former vogue editor that was being photographed. during the session, the photographer told her
that she looked like she was having more fun than anyone. she was.
i kept thinking the same about our shoot.
