childrens editorial shoot {filles de mod}

i had a loose idea. a short time later, i had two perfect girls. then i had a fabulous stylist, a cool location
and some hip clothes from the spotted goose.
little did i know that it would be one of my very favorite styled sessions to date.
i love photographing children. every bit real, or, as in this case, every bit styled.
for this session, instead of pulling everything together myself, i had the pleasure of collaborating with
a fresh new children’s stylist (and sweetest thing ever) lindsay dewald.
yes, you do recognize her name from this post and she has her own amazing blog too. clearly, multi talented.
i will admit that it was a challenge for me to keep my hands out of the styling, but i was thrilled
by what lindsay put together which completely inspired me during the shoot.
as for my two little lovelies…heaven. mia has graced this blog before (here) and
as for kertu…i saw her out in public and quickly went over and talked to her father. yes i did.
so happy he talked back to me.
so thankful to all.

monday morning java {books for the creative mind}

i’m reading  the book ‘stroke of insight’ right now after seeing the author (jill bolte taylor) speak on
ted
through a fb link earlier last week. it pretty much blew my mind.
what she has to share is worth reading about on so so many levels.
chase jarvis
recently shared jill’s book and 9 more on his blogpost
titled ‘required reading: 10 books to (re) charge the creative mind.’ it’s worth checking out.
i especially like what he says about so many books out there for the ‘creative types’ that focus on
the ‘how to do this and that’ and while those have their place, so do books that simply make us think.
or, for that matter, anything that simply makes us feel.
the results may very well lead to something creative and wonderful and completely unexpected.

happy reading
